Not much landscaping has been done, my green thumb is itching already!!

So here is a few pictures of our house. Somehow I managed to get it cleaned up a bit (with major help from Bobby, I mean - how many husbands do you know that OFFER to vacuum!!). Kitchen will eventually get a major makeover, as well as the dining room, the other rooms will get some touch ups but hopefully won't need big updates anytime soon. I did not include the 3rd bedroom since there is nothing there but a carpet and a desk with the computer... Let us know what you think!!

My baby is 1!

It is so hard to believe that our little cricket is not that little anymore! She is turning 1 this Sunday! This past year has been full of new experiences and incredible happiness. It also gave us a chance to see how much we are able to do on very little sleep!! :o) The first year of parenthood has been so hard on many occasions, we had to learn a lot in such a short time. All you parents know what I am talking about. But the rewards are so worth it! The responsibility we feel for our daughter is huge and often trying and scary but on the other hand, we get to love and raise this amazing new person that makes every day so much fun!! Now allow me to boast a little about Sofia. She is VERY vocal, uses 17 (!) different words (some of them she can also sign) - she knows their meaning and uses them repeatedly. Pretty much picks up a word a day now... she is almost walking, walks with help of her push toy. She loves reading, playing with her doll Olivia, laughing (especially when she hears someone else laugh, she joins right in), crawling around, tugging with Bella the dog over Bella's toys, rocking in her rocking horse, hanging out with Papa and Mama, going for walks (tries to grab Bella's leash) in her stroller. She now goes to work with Papa every morning to start the bread (so Mama can sleep in and take a shower!) and knows her way around the restaurant pretty well. Now if she only started sleeping thru the night, she would be perfect!! :o)

In other family news - many of you know we are moving off island. We bought a house in Franklin, MA (about 40 miles from Hyannis, 35 miles from Boston). It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a huge fenced in yard, 2 car attached garage and in a very good school district! We are leaving next Friday and are more than ready to start this new chapter in our lives! We certainly hope you will stop by and visit when in the area! I am planning to open a family daycare (the house has a finished basement paerfect for it) which allows me to stay home with Sofia while bringing some $$ in) and Bobby will be working on Nantucket for some time (commuting) and then he will consider the few different offers and possibilities he has, probably commuting to Boston. We will definitely let you know when things shape up... So that is that. I will try to be better in updating this blog. But also check us out on Facebook, I dop update it often and there are lots of pictures of us there!! Uh, and our new email address aswell in "info", if you don't have it! Love love love

8 months - babbling and almost walking!

It is so hard to believe that next Wednesday, Sofia will be 8 months old. Time sure flies when you're having fun! Her personality emerges more and more every day and she ticks off the milestones with warp speed... She is a happy, bubbly baby (except when we don't do what she wants us to do and then the little she-devil comes out briefly). She loves hanging out with me and is always super delighted to see Bobby. She babbles, her first word was mama, now she added baba and nana and every combo of these imaginable. She is walking fairly steadily with our support, can stand on her own holding onto furniture and just started showing interest in crawling. She can pull herself up from sitting - in her crib only. She loves the puppets from Baby Einstein videos, her yellow ducky and any chewable book.. oh, and anything yellow! She would love to play with our cell phones, remote controls, water bottles, wine glasses... if we let her. We are learning to remember to put things away from her exploring hands... we lost several full food containers and glasses already.... she can also clap and just learned to wave bye-bye! She mostly uses her left hand for all these things - we might have a leftie!!! She is just a a delightful little girl. I'd like to think her separation anxiety is getting better and she is doing quite well in daycare! She is growing up so fast and changing so much daily!
Bobby and I are doing well. Apart from watching and enjoying our big girl, Bobby is a busy bee at Sfoglia. I have started working at a gallery in town (10 hours a week) and might pick up some office work for my old boss at her catering company... we'll see. The dog and the cat are a constant entertainment in our house (think almost cartoon-like chases, the cat hiding around the corner and waiting for the dog....) and together with our garden, we are keeping busy... 4th of July is almost here and now that we have a little American in the house, this is one of the holidays we will try to honor and enjoy more. Raising a child in 3 different languages and honoring 3 different cultures will be hard, but we'll try to do our best....
Je velmi tazko uverit, ze buducu stredu bude mat Sofia 8 mesiacov. Cas leti ked je zabava! Jej povaha sa ukazuje viac a viac kazdym dnom a mala odratava dolezite vyvojove medzniky rychlostou vetra... Mame vesele, spokojne dieta (okrem pripadov kedy ju neposluchame, vtedy vystrci rozky ta mala priserka v nej). Velmi rada sa hra so mnou a vzdy sa rozsvieti ked vidi Bobbyho. Blaboce, jej prve slovo bolo mama, teraz uz pridala aj baba a nana a vsetky mozne kombinacie. Ked ju drzime za ruky tak uz celkom slusne chodi, vie sama stat opreta o nieco a konecne prejavila zaujem o lozenie. Vytiahne sa zo sedenia na nohy - ale len v jej postielke. Rada pozera babky v televizii, zboznuje jej zltu kacicku a hocijaku knizku.. oh, a hocico zlte!
